ARTIST'S STATEMENT |
I am an artist working primarily with Digital Art and Textile Art. My textile work is inspired by some of the Digital work that I have done.
I have many years of experience doing many kinds of art work in a variety of media. I have had exhibitions of my work. I am a retired teacher and Art was my main subject. I studied Art for three years at teacher training college. I studied textiles and fine art and graphic design.
My work is influenced by the colours and textures of the world around me and also by the fabrics and threads and other different materials that I use. I use melting and heating of man made fibres in conjunction with natural fibres. I hope you enjoy seeing my work.

| The piece is hand embroidered using thread and appliqued flower shapes cut from opaque fabric felt.The base fabric is navy blue fleece. The piece is backed with fabric and titled and signed on reverse side.

| This piece is made from a variety of strips of fabric, including strips of felt and threads. All are hand applied. The silver pieces are made with gun glue and over painted with silver. It was inspired by a piece of digital art work which was built up by using coloured pencil lines. The piece is backed with fabric and signed and titled on the reverse side.

| This piece is made from layers of organza hand appliqued on a calico ground fabric and hand embroidered with flowers in the foreground. The layers of organza were cut with a soldering iron. It was based on a piece of digital art work.

| For this piece I manufactured a lot of the pieces by knitting the shapes. The pieces were hand appliqued onto a linen fabric alongside pieces of felt and then some threads were laid on top. I also used hand dyed silk tops laid on by hand. The piece was based on a piece of work that I did with my digital painting program which was worked using the impasto brushes.
The piece is backed with fabric and titled and signed on the reverse of the piece.

| This piece is hand appliqued on a calico ground fabric with hand dyed wool fleece and kunin felt which have been melted. It was then hand embroidered on top with various threads.
The piece is backed with fabric and titled and signed on the reverse side.

| This piece of fabric art was made by building up layers of a variety of fabrics including kunin felt and taffeta on a calico base fabric. The shapes in the piece were cut from the fabrics with a soldering iron and then hand appliqued on top of one another. Also inlaid with hand dyed silk tops. The piece was inspired by a piece of Digital Art worked with the Sponge brush in a Painting program.
The piece will be window mounted with card and framed in a contemporary 12"x 12" frame. It is also backed with fabric and signed and titled on the reverse of the piece. | | Preview | |
